The 41st Kennedy Center Honors Gala took place on Sunday, December 2 in Washington, D.C., and the ceremony aired on CBS Wednesday night, December 26th.
Reba McEntire was among the honorees at the 2018 Kennedy Center Honors, and artists from various musical genres provided unique tributes to the country music icon. Kelly Clarkson, Lady Antebellum, Brooks & Dunn and Kristin Chenoweth each paid tribute to McEntire with a song. Little Big Town were also on hand to honor Cher with a medley of her hits. Clarkson, who is McEntire’s daughter-in-law, delivered an emotional speech about McEntire before performing her 1990 hit “Fancy.”
The gala honored the contributions of McEntire, Cher, composers Wayne Shorter and Phillip Glass, Hamilton co-writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, director Thomas Kail, choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler and music director Alex Lacamoire.
